Neil Seldman, PhD, is co-founder of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR)and Director of its Waste to Wealth Initiative.

His work focused on developing independent recycling businesses, helping community avoid garbage incineration and developing policies that serve the public good. He has consulted with the US Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), House and Human Services (HHS) and the World Bank Organization (WBO) and many US cities and counties, as well as the Save the Albatross Coalition. He is co-founder of the National Recycling Council, Grass Roots Recycling Network, Zero Waste International Association He writes regularly for trade journals and the general media on these topics. Seldman works exclusively in the United States but shares information with and learns from international organizations and businesses.

Prior to working at ILSR, Seldman was a production manager for consumer products manufacturing and professor of Political Science at the George Washington University.
